Imagining the Real World through Mods, Maps and Message Boards

The graph that is part of the paper I submitted to IADIS ’08 is after the jump.

Abstract
The following paper will show that contemporary game play is a highly discursive practice by analyzing how gamers that play Command & Conquer (C&C) imagine the country of Iran. Through an analysis of relevant message boards, user-created maps, and game modifications, it will establish a connection between how these gamers imagine Iran and how this mental image is expressed in their game play. The current work is a preliminary study as part of a larger dissertation project.
