Three more reports in the pipeline.

After meeting with David Cole last week at the NY Games Conference, we agreed to refresh three of DFC’s current reports. Codenames: MMOG, MMOG-lite and Casual Games.

MMOG is about high-end subscription games;

MMOG-lite is about Free-To-Play;

Casual Games is about online game portals and casual games.

The big question is how, if at all, these three sub-sectors are making any money. As the industry moves towards digital distribution (and why wouldn’t it?), an important question will be how to make some money in this new ecosystem. Will you be paying $50 up front, or instead entering for free but with the option of upgrading with some micro-payments?

So, that’s for me to find out. I’m excited, because as part of the arrangement I’ll be in charge of DFC’s New York operations.

About Waffler

Half of the work in getting a Ph.D is purely logistical. This is my attempt to create a degree of coherence in the influx of game-related news, data, tidbits, announcements, CFPs, book reviews, commentary and nonsense that finds its way onto my screen every day.
